During a space expedition to study cosmic energy, led by scientist Reed Richards, the space station is hit by a cosmic storm, the crew, consisting of Reed, astronaut Ben Grimm, researcher Sue Storm, and pilot Johnny Storm, is exposed to mysterious radiation and undergoes mutations that alter their anatomy.
