Francis' niece, Mary is a woman with a keen interest in biology, and seeks to preserve the specimen of the Wolf Man for study into the nature of the beast, entirely unaware of the fact that it is her uncle. She is for the first half or so of the movie firm in her belief that the Wold Man is more than just a mindless animal, and is proved right when she has a close encounter with the creature, and learns of his true identity. Protesting at his being put on show, Mary is nonetheless forced by her uncle to shoot and kill him the next night as he goes to turn into the creature.
