De Lacey, a descendent of the characters seen during the events of Frankenstein, owns a freak show in central London, and ultimately gets custody over Aberline, whom he officially deems "the Wolf Man", and puts on display with other freaks to be mocked by Londoners. His keeping of Francis is controversial, and protested by Mary, Twiddle and Dew, but he is not interested in the wellbeing or stability of one man if removing him would remove sales. Ultimately, his decision to keep Aberline on show costs him dearly, as the Wolf Man escapes, butchers him, and attacks his audience.
