The Wolf Man's true identity, Inspector Francis Aberline has to live a double life during the movie trying to dissuade any suspicion that he may be the Wolf Man to protect his family, and committing atrocities as the creature the same night. He is eventually caught, and is placed on display to be mocked by the populace of London, eventually escaping captivity. Seeking to end his, his family, and London's suffering, he has Mary shoot him with a silver bullet, and leaves to die in peace.
