  • misterwolf Plot: After the death of her mother by rockjoint, Hailee White-Mane follows her posthumous instructions and travels to the city of Whiterun; upon arriving, she spots three extremely talented warriors named Aela, Farkas, and Ria, fighting a giant at a local farm outside the city. She helps them defeat the giant, and quickly earns Aela's respect, with the latter saying that she is a formidable fighter. Aela advises Hailee that she should join their order, known as the Companions, and talk to Kodlak White-Mane, their harbinger.

  • misterwolf However, all of the Companions including Kodlak are unaware that Hailee is Kodlak's daughter, and only she has this knowledge. Upon entering Jorrvaskr, the warrior hall within Whiterun that the Companions live in, she witnesses a brawl between members Njada Stonearm and Athis; when it reaches a stalemate, Hailee is told by Vignar Gray-Mane, the Revered, to head downstairs to meet Kodlak. When she appears from the shadows of the hallway and approaches Kodlak, he welcomes her with open arms, and agrees to let her join if she handles three trials; the first being that Farkas' younger brother Vilkas tests her sword arm, and she easily passes. The second is that Vilkas sends Hailee to take his weapon up to Eorlund, Vignar's brother and a blacksmith who works at the Skyforge. The final trial is given to her by Skjor, a mentor to the Companions, who sends her with Farkas to an ancient Nordic tomb called the Dustman's Cairn.

  • misterwolf Meanwhile, Kodlak writes his journal, which reveals that he had a vision while sleeping that a mysterious warrior fought a wolf in front of him, and it had become clear that they were on his side and the wolf was not. He now writes a new entry, explaining that when Hailee approached him, she fit the profile of that warrior exactly.

  • misterwolf At the Cairn, Hailee and Farkas encounter the Silver Hand, a group of bandits who despise the Companions; as they fight them, Farkas transforms into a werewolf, slaughtering the group until reverting back and eventually guiding Hailee to a Fragment of Wuuthrad, an ancient battle-axe that the Companions intend to return to a crypt known as Ysgramor's tomb, which is the resting place of the founder of the Companions, Ysgramor.

  • misterwolf Upon returning to Jorrvaskr, the Circle, consisting of Farkas, Aela, Vilkas, Skjor, and Kodlak, welcomes her as a fully-fledged member of the Companions, and she is granted new armor, a shield, and a one-handed sword, all made out of Skyforge steel. After completing numerous jobs, and bonding with Aela, Skjor takes them both to the Underforge, a shrine to werewolves underneath the Skyforge itself. Skjor also reveals that he and Aela are devout followers of Hircine, the Daedric Lord of the Hunt; Aela offers her blood to Hailee, and she accepts, realizing that she must reach the heights of the Companions. After Skjor cuts Aela's arm, allowing her blood to drip onto the shrine, Hailee drinks it, and becomes a werewolf. As she escapes Whiterun without the city knowing who she is, she leaves a trail for Aela to follow, leading her to Gallow's Rock, where she finds Hailee back in her regular form and re-equiping her armor and weapons.

  • misterwolf Skjor arrives and charges into Gallow's Rock while Aela helps Hailee recover from her transformation, before they both follow ahead. After slaughtering the Silver Hand living in the rock and killing their leader, Krev the Skinner, they find Skjor's body, indicating that they have managed to murder him. Hailee breaks the news to all members, including Kodlak and Vignar, while consulting soothsayer and high priest to the Temple of Kynereth, Danica Pure-Spring, about revealing to Kodlak that she is his child. Danica advises her to reveal it when she is ready. Meanwhile, Torvar is found passed out from drinking on the job, and Ria berates him for this. Kodlak has him detained until he is sober.

  • misterwolf Hailee bonds further with Aela after completing several tasks to avenge Skjor's death, and eventually develops feelings for her; Aela reveals that she has also fallen for Hailee, before kissing her and becoming her romantic partner. After they claim several of Wuuthrad's fragments, Aela sends Hailee to Kodlak, who shares her grief and anger over Skjor's murder, and assures her that he understood her need to get revenge; he tells her a legend of a small group of Hagravens called the Glenmoril Witches, wretched beings who cursed the Companions to become werewolves, only for that curse to become a blessing. He also tells her a story resolving around a time he had fathered a child with a peasant woman in the town of Riverwood, and had left that child and her mother to keep them safe from harm, and she quickly realizes that this is her story.

  • misterwolf She decides against telling him this however, feeling that she is not ready to say so and he would have no response. Kodlak sends Hailee to Glenmoril Coven, instructing her to behead all of the witches and bring their heads to him. She travels there, kills the witches, and returns to Whiterun, but to her horror, she finds several bodies of Silver Hand members who had attacked Jorrvaskr; Torvar has also realized the error of his ways and helped to kill the attackers. When Hailee enters Jorrvaskr in a panic, she finds out from Vilkas that Kodlak did not survive the attack, and that the remaining Silver Hand had made off with the fragments. Heartbroken, Hailee reveals to the entire Companions that her last name is Kodlak's, thus causing all of them to realize that she is his daughter; Vilkas then guides a vengeful Hailee to Driftshade Refuge, which is located within Northern part of Skyrim, and upon entering there, they massacre the Silver-Hand, and Hailee kills their leader, avenging her father's death before reclaiming the fragments and returning to Whiterun for his funeral.

  • misterwolf After the funeral, Hailee is comforted by Aela, who then gives her Kodlak's journal, and it's final entry reveals that Kodlak had been foreseeing Hailee to become his replacement as harbinger of the Companions, and it also reveals that Kodlak knew the entire time that he was Hailee's father, having tried to give her a hint with his earlier story. Finally realizing that her father speculated that she would join and that he knew he was going to die, she accepts the harbinger role, and also finds one last fragment of Wuuthrad within Kodlak's nightstand, before going with Aela to the Underforge, where they meet Farkas and Vilkas for their quest to travel to Ysgramor's Tomb, and Eorlund, whom Hailee and Aela had given Kodlak's fragment and the others to, hands the repaired Wuuthrad to Hailee, who sheathes it on her back, before Eorlund says "You four should make way for the Tomb of Ysgramor, for Kodlak."

  • misterwolf When they arrive at the tomb, they find a statue of Ysgramor, which Hailee returns Wuuthrad to, and she heads further into the crypt while Vilkas stays behind with Wuuthrad and the statue. After fighting through the spirits of the fallen Companions that followed Ysgramor to their deaths and beyond, Hailee, Aela, and Farkas reach a blue fire, where Kodlak's spirit emerges; when Hailee attempts to apologize to her father for not telling him who she was to him, he tells her that he would not have done any different if he was in her position. Both Hailee and Kodlak realize that he can still be cured, and she places a witch head into the fire, battling her father's wolf spirit and eventually killing it and freeing him from the werewolf blessing and fulfilling his earlier vision. However, the fight has awoken the reanimated corpse of Ysgramor, who breaks free from his coffin and grabs his shield. He easily overpowers Hailee and Aela, while Farkas manages to weaken him enough for Hailee to regain her strength and kill Ysgramor, before Kodlak bids her farewell and tells her to lead the Companions to further glory.
