If anyone has remembered the Dark Overlord from Howard the Duck, he is back, has taken human form and is stronger than ever. He has attacked S.H.I.E.L.D.'s research facility and has taken the Tesseract along Reed Richards so he can make a portal to lead an alien race called the Chitauri to conquer Earth. But Nick Fury had an idea. Called the Avengers Initiative. And he has chosen heroes like Wolverine, Daredevil, Elektra, Spider-Man as the leader, and Howard the Duck as the Dark Overlord expert on the team. But on the Helicarrier, Ben Grimm (The Thing) has been acting strange lately, like "possessed" strange, and tensions grow within the team as they realize S.H.I.E.L.D.'s use for the Tesseract, which they're locating. Will an attack happen and no further attacks happen elsewhere? Or will the Dark Overlord open the portal from atop the Daily Bugle and the Chitauri will invade New York?
