Eseosa (born 1757) is a member of the Haitian Brotherhood of Assassins, and a leading figure of the Haitian Revolution. He was the son of the Assassin Babatunde Josèphe, the grandson of Adéwalé and Bastienne Josèphe, a descendant of Taíno Assassin Behitha from Marién as part of chiefdoms (cacicazgos) of Hispaniola and an ancestor of both Milton Jones and Dieudonné Arnaud Gauthier. In 1947, Gauthier was born in Cap-Haïtien (formerly as Cap-Français), 143 years after Jean-Jacques Dessalines tore the white stripe from the French tricolor and declared Haiti the world’s first free Black republic. He grew up on tales of his ancestors such as Behitha, who fought alongside the next bloodline of Adéwalé, the legendary Maroon who sailed the Victoire, Mackandal, the Mentor of the Saint-Domingue was captured and executed in 1758, while Agaté traveled to Louisiana on his own accord to escape capture by the Templars, eventually founding the Louisiana Brotherhood of Assassins in pursuit of his former lover, Jeanne, and Eseosa, who carried the Assassin Brotherhood’s torch into the 19th century. But the pride of 1804 was a distant memory by the 1950s. Gauthier watched his country fracture under successive military coups. His faith in the republic finally shattered in 1957 when the Templar-backed country doctor, François "Papa Doc" Duvalier, manipulated his way into the presidency. By 1959, Papa Doc bypassed the traditional military to establish a personal, voodoo secret police. Inspired by the folklore of the Cagouls, people whispered of them as the Zinzin, the Boogeymen, or Uncle Gunnysack, became a nightmarish monsters who snatched children in the night. When Gauthier witnessed these hooded thugs dragging away local dissidents in Cap-Haïtien, he formally took the Assassin’s Oath, desperate to protect the legacy of his bloodline. The secret police was soon officially christened the Volontaires de la Sécurité Nationale (VSN), but the black people knew them as the Tonton Macoutes. They discarded their hoods for a chillingly peasant-style blue denim fabric uniform shirts by Azaka Medeh, along with straw hats, dark sunglasses, and blood-red scarves called sash. Throughout the 1960s, the Templar-led Duvalier regime transformed Haiti into a dystopian stronghold. The Tonton Macoute headquarters sprouted in every major city, including Cap-Haïtien where Gauthier was born there. Underneath these concrete fortresses lay the dark heart of the Templar operation of the VSN headquarters. Papa Doc weaponised the Haitian Vodou religion for malevolent control, transforming himself into a dreaded bokor (a sorcerer of dark magic). The Templars used psychological terror, toxic powders, and ritual isolation to break the minds of political prisoners, effectively turning them into living zombies to work and enslave them after the chief of the Tonton Macoute with the highest rank of the Templar Order traps the vital essences or spirits of his victims into literal spiritual containers of soul jars called canari in a state of living death, after rising up from their graves by wondering around the cemetery that night. Deep underneath the VSN headquarters in Cap-Haïtien, bloody human sacrifices were offered to corrupt loas (spirits) by the voodoo priest known as houngans during the secret night ceremonies, cementing the Templars' absolute authority over the island's spiritual and political landscape. In 1971, Gauthier sent one of his Assassin apprentices to kill Papa Doc through psychological stress hastened Papa Doc's failing health and died of his wounds. Papa Doc's 19-year-old son, Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier, was immediately installed as President for Life. While Baby Doc maintained the public image of a reckless, westernized playboy obsessed with fast cars and lavish parties, the underlying machinery of the state remained brutally unchanged. The blue-uniformed paramilitary militia continued to hunt down anyone, including the Assassins like Gauthier, had suspected of treason. Gauthier and his remaining Assassin cell became the regime's primary targets. Forced into the shadows of the massifs, Gauthier now wages a guerrilla war against the Duvalier regime that uses both modern firearms and ancient, perverted spiritual talismans to keep the entire island nation in chains to suffocate the black majority population. The bloodline of Adéwalé will not let Haiti fall to the Templars without a fight. For decades, Baby Doc ruled Haiti through midnight abductions, vodou-infused psychological terror, and the systematic elimination of political dissidents with human sacrifice at the voodoo ceremony as part of execution to behead them. Inside their notorious Tonton Macoute headquarters in Cap-Haïtien, the air was thick with the stench of copper, sweat, and fear. The regime’s loyalists had been preparing another wave of ritualistic sacrifices not just to terrorize the black populace, but to mystically entrench their fading grip on power. Among those slated for the chopping block were the nation's most stubborn intellectual rebels and members of the underground resistance, including Gauthier, a calculated operative trained in the silent, lethal arts of the Assassins. Finally in 1986, after decades of childhood been fragmented a nightmare of state-sponsored violence, a troubled existence that permanently scarred his psyche. Desperate to break the cycle, Gauthier had once managed to funnel clandestine pleas to international powers, specifically urging US President Ronald Reagan to intervene and oust Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier. But tonight, foreign diplomacy mattered little. Tonight, the streets of Port-au-Prince and other major cities belonged to the people. Between late January and early February, the uprising against the Duvalier oppression begins with protesters, armed with nothing but machetes, stones, and decades of built-up rage, breached the perimeter of the Macoute stronghold throughout Haiti includung Gauthier's birthplace in his native Cap-Haïtien. The heavy wooden doors splintered under the weight of the mob at Cap-Haïtien after midnight where the Macoutes, stripped of their mythical invincibility, had either fled or were massacred by the mobs with machetes to cut off their heads on pikes, while others were beaten to death with clubs, some had instantly overwhelmed. The crowds had surged through the corridors, ransacking offices, tearing down portraits along with Duvalier black and red flag banners, looting armouries, and smashing the iron cells to pieces to free all the prisoners underneath the headquarters, the final act of the Duvalier dictatorship unfolded. As they reached up to the flagpole, tearing down the vertical black and red standard of the Duvalier dynasty in its place, the crowd hoisted by replacing the historic horizontal blue and red tricolour flag. News of the stronghold's fall spread like wildfire, sealing the regime's fate. Stripped of his enforcers and facing total annihilation, Baby Doc Duvalier fled the capital under the cover of darkness, boarding a US-provided flight destined for exile in Paris on 7 February. As dawn broke over a celebrating Haitians throughout the country, Gauthier stood amidst the ruins of his past in his native Cap-Haïtien. The Duvalier regime collapsed, the symbol of oppression was gone and the nightmare is finally over for Gauthier while in Cap-Haïtien for now, he was finally free, but the scars of his childhood ran deep, and the ghosts of the old regime still haunted the Caribbean air. Seeking a true clean slate away from the trauma of his homeland, Gauthier joined the waves of migration to the United States to build a new life out of the ashes.
