The name “Odysseus” hails from ancient Greek culture. It is believed to be derived from the Greek verb “odyssomai,” which translates to “to be wroth against” or “to hate”. However, in Homer's Odyssey the verb usually means "to cause pain" or "to bear a grudge against". Thus, Odysseus' name can also mean "he who causes pain or makes others angry".
