At first, Aki comes off as rather stoic and mature, but sometimes rude and blunt if he had to act that way. He initially dislikes Denji and Power, since their behavior was seen as distracting, not taking their job seriously. Even though he may seem quite distant from others, he deeply cares for others, and hates seeing those around him getting hurt.
