Macavity is is a malevolent criminal mastermind, having supposedly committed numerous crimes while always managing to elude the police. His wicked deeds strike fear in the Jellicles, and his looming presence and attempts to terrorize the tribe, particularly Demeter, are major subplots. Macavity also possesses various magical powers, including teleportation, hypnosis, and levitation. Even without using his powers, however, he is a very skilled hand-to-hand combatant.
