Steve Rogers, a scrawny but determined young man, is desperate to serve in World War II despite repeated rejections due to his frail health. Initially relegated to performing as a propaganda mascot, Steve takes matters into his own hands, rescuing a captured Allied unit, including his best friend, Bucky Barnes, from Hydra’s clutches. His heroism earns him a frontline role in the fight against Hydra, led by the ruthless Johann Schmidt, aka the Red Skull, who wields the power of the Tesseract, a mystical energy source. Steve leads daring missions to dismantle Hydra’s operations. In a climactic battle aboard Hydra's aircraft, the Red Skull is consumed by the Tesseract’s power, and Steve sacrifices himself to crash the plane into the Arctic, saving millions. Presumed dead, he awakens decades later in the modern world, setting the stage for his next adventure as Captain America.
