Doyle often works as a tracker for the Crown's Reach, using his ability "Study in Scarlet" to trace any object or person so long as he has an object connected to what he's trying to find. Unlike his superior, Doyle is guiless and often takes an avuncular interest in the wellbeing of people around him. Unfortunately, he is also somewhat gullible and superstitious, so he needs to be kept in check by some of his more worldly friends. He forms a friendship with Ranpo and the two keep in contact after he returns to England.
