Chiyoko is a refugee from Japan, she was a former personal maid of the leader of the Sakura-Kai clan Kuragaki, unlike her twin sister, who is a battle lieutenant Hikari, known as "The Red death" to all clans in Japan. Chiyoko is a very gentle girl, she helps the Sakura-Kai clan's leader calm down and think happy thoughts all the time, until one time she catches him beating up her sister for failing to kill the innocent villagers of a weaker clan who doesn't agree with him. After witnessing the abuse, she tries to tell her sister to leave the Sakura-Kai clan, but she wants to stay behind to buy her time to escape disguised as a wanderer
