Synopsis

When a British Harrier jet crashes in mainland China only days before the Hong Kong handover talks, 007 is deployed to the Far East to investigate wealthy entrepreneur Sir Henry Lee Ching. In this thrilling adventure spanning the Pacific Rim, James Bond teams up with cat burglar Connie Webb, crosses paths with the Chinese 'Red Army' and takes on a powerful villain with enough advanced technology to manipulate World War III. Based on an original script by Michael G. Wilson and Alfonse Ruggiero in July 1990, this story is a first look at what could have been Timothy Dalton's third James Bond adventure. Description of Nigel Yupland (Junior Defence Minister):

A young Defence Minister at White Hall, overseeing a re-evaluation of M's department after the post-Soviet reforms. Yupland comes off as a stuffy bureaucrat with no sympathy for Bond or his department. He has recommended the 00 Section be closed down, along with Q branch, and has strict budgetary guidelines for all 00 agents.
