Axel Foley, who is now a veteran LA cop, must return back to Detroit to team with rookie officer, Sid Carter. Foley's befriended detective, Billy Rosewood, has been brutally murdered. The murder is traced back to an opened case in Detroit. Eddie Murphy reprises his role as Axel Foley and Bronson Pinchot returns as Serge. New characters include Sid Carter (Rookie officer in Detroit), Pamela Jensen (Foley's love interest), Chief Maslin (LA Chief of Police), and Nick (Serious cop in LA, who thinks Foley is disrespectful). Harold Faltermeyer returns as composer. Notable 1980's songs, such as Axel F, Down Under, Electric Avenue, and Everybody Wants To Rule The World, appear in the film.
