Mal Duncan was recruited by the Titans after he saved them from the gang of Hell Hawks, by defeating their leader in the boxing match. During the early moments, Mal doesn’t have any powers and tries his best to fit into the roster until Mal discovers a strength enhancing exo-skeleton and the costume of the Guardian (originally worn by Jim Harper). Using these, Mal Duncan became the second Guardian. He’s also the love interest of Karen Beecher, AKA Bumblebee.
