Dick Grayson became leader of the Titans and assumed the identity of Nightwing after an identity crisis and to surpass his mentor, Batman. How did he become Nightwing? Dick Grayson was the first Robin and leader of the Teen Titans. He retired as Robin and was replaced by Donna Troy (Wonder Girl). Dick returned as Nightwing, and the new Teen Titans were once again led by him. He re-formed the Titans while assuming the new identity of Nightwing.
