DCEU Phase 1 Movie 2
One year after the Kryptonian invasion, Gotham remains consumed by crime and corruption. Batman relentlessly targets Carmine Falcone’s empire, but Jason Todd’s death has left him increasingly isolated and paranoid. Alfred worries Bruce is losing himself, while Dick Grayson has left Gotham behind to operate as Nightwing in Blüdhaven. At Arkham Asylum, psychiatrist Hugo Strange becomes obsessed with Batman. Through psychological profiling and stolen records, he discovers Batman is Bruce Wayne. Instead of revealing the secret, Strange decides to break him. Using Falcone’s influence and Jervis Tetch’s mind-control technology, he fuels violent crimes across Gotham while helping establish an anti-vigilante task force. Batman’s investigation leads him into Arkham, where Strange traps him inside the asylum. Exposed to powerful hallucinogens, Bruce is forced to relive his greatest failures. He sees visions of Jason blaming him for his death and Dick turning his back on him forever. Physically exhausted and psychologically shattered, Batman is nearly captured before Gordon and a small group of loyal officers intervene. Realizing Strange wants him to become the monster he believes Batman truly is, Bruce regains control. Using evidence gathered throughout the case, he exposes Strange’s illegal experiments, corruption, and murders. Strange is committed to Arkham himself while Gotham’s anti-vigilante movement collapses. Back in the Batcave, Bruce accepts that grief cannot control his mission and begins taking the first steps toward healing. Mid-Credits: Lex Luthor visits Carmine Falcone in prison and proposes a partnership to reshape Gotham. Post-Credits: A green power ring speeds through deep space toward Earth, searching for its next bearer.
