After breaking Jack White now known as Joker out of jail, Harvey Dent proceeds to make deals with several high-class people such as Penguin and Amanda Waller while also hiding Joker. Eventually Joker sends Harvey to retrieve Dr. Harleen Quinzel who was Joker's psychiatrist but fell in love with him. Harvey gets Harleen out of Arkham and Joker renames her to Harley Quinn. Eventually Batman finds them, but Joker reveals he has captured Batgirl and knew Batman was coming. Joker then shoots Batgirl in the stomach paralyzing her from the waist down.
