Eduardo had fallen off the bridge the day that Bruce had escaped the League. His body was broken and he had been exiled for his failure to best Bruce in combat. Eventually he had been found by Slade and taken to a monastery to heal. He soon became addicted to special elixirs the monks used and threatened their lives if they didn’t give him as much as he asked. He swore to destroy Bruce for humiliating him and would break his back the same way the cliff had broken his.
