At the beginning of the film, we see Bruce and the other members of the Batfamily attending the funeral of Victor Fries, who had given his own heart to his wife Nora and died in peace so she could be cured of her disease. He briefly sees Nora placing a flower in Victor's hands, and walks up to her, when she asks, ''How do you feel about the things he did to save me? The crimes he committed?'' with tears in her eyes, where Bruce replies, ''He was a good man. In the end, he saved you. We all make mistakes. His tenure as Mister Freeze should be a prime example of that. But now, he can rest in peace, knowing you'll be alright.''
