James “Jim” Gordon moved to Gotham City 20 years ago from Blüdhaven with his wife, Irene, hoping to make a difference in a city plagued by corruption. Early on, he witnessed firsthand the depths of Gotham’s decay when his partner, Detective Arnold Flass, abused his power. After being beaten by corrupt officers under orders from Commissioner Loeb, Gordon retaliated by humiliating Flass. Despite Gotham’s grim realities, Gordon remained steadfast in his mission to clean up the police force. He worked closely with Detective Harvey Bullock and eventually partnered with Batman to combat Gotham’s escalating crime, becoming one of the city’s most trusted lawmen.
