Batman is away on a Justice League mission, leaving Gotham City under the protection of his proteges Nightwing and Batgirl. As Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon try to spend their lives together, Renee Montoya is murdered drawing the duo into an investigation. A new threat has come to Gotham, the Church of Blood lead by the ruthless Brother Blood, seeking to take control of the city. Black Mask the most powerful crime lord in Gotham wages war against the church not wanting anyone to take his power away from him. Batgirl and Nightwing must work with the GCPD to stop this war before it consumes the city. As the duo are pushed to their limits, their love is tested and they discover that this new evil may have connections to their past.
