Tom and mary are planning to get married when and old Barnaby comes in and ruins their plans by hiring two goons to kidnap Tom and throw him in the sea. Distraught Mary decides to marry Barnaby and sell her farm because she can't afford to keep then because she slowly starts to go in debt.
