After spending some time in South America, and cooling off, and controlling his "anger issues", Banner decides to come back to New York and hopefully find work in a lab so he can work on his "condition" because he knows he's only suppressed "the other guy" in him, and he won't risk another busted city because of him. He finds work at Parker Labs who work on genetics, biochemistry, everything in Banner's field. When he's asked to help Peter with not only finding the answer to Ben's inheritance, Mystique's mutant powers, but also how to track the Mind Stone and how to get the X-Men free from its control because of its gamma radiation. But in doing so, the "other guy" gets to come into the light.
