Fan Casting Charles' advice in Avengers vs X-Men (2015)

After Stan Lee gets put into recovery, Bruce gets a cup of tea from Elektra, still shaken by becoming the Hulk again. But Matt and Flint thanked Bruce because if the Hulk didn't fight, they'd all be dead. Peter, having a bandage around his chest from his fight with Wolverine, walks around, anxious about these events. He passes by Charles' room who says "You are troubled. You don't know how to stop Magneto, save Logan, the X-Men, or protect your team all at once, and you don't know when you'll see your family again." Pete sighs and walks in, saying "Was the stress on my face not enough?" Charles says "I've known your burdens long before I became a teacher to mutants. You are too trapped in the mind to know what you need to do. When Erik became Magneto, he acted on instinct rather than heart. Every time I looked in his mind, I have seen a glimpse of the Erik Lehnsherr I once knew. A hopeful mutant. Hope for humanity. He THINKS that humanity has no hope of being equal to mutants, nor does it have any reason to continue living. He used his mind rather than his heart. Instinct rather than hope. You, Peter Parker, are facing the same choices Erik made all those years ago." Peter says "And you don't?" Charles says "Everyone does at some point in their lives. What we need to decide when we come to those choices is to listen to our minds . . . or our hearts."
