A Saint Bernard’s Tale (1895–1907)
Following the liberation of London in 1868 and the harrowing autumn of 1888, Evie Frye and her husband, Henry Green, divided their time between England and India. Finding a need for absolute security and steadfast comfort, Evie adopted a massive Saint Bernard puppy named Lady on 15 June 1895, she was fiercely loyal and deeply affectionate, perfectly balancing Evie’s high-society responsibilities. Beneath her gentle exterior, Lady possessed a razor-sharp intelligence and a vigilant nature. Lady quickly became the unsung, furry guardian of the British Brotherhood. During the tense build-up to Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897, the Blighters led by the Templar gangs attempted to infiltrate the changing streets. Lady stood as a tireless, formidable protector against these encroaching Templar threats, when she provided unwavering emotional support to Evie, the young Lydia Frye, Clara O'Dea, and the broader Rooks faction. After years of active service and loyalty, as the dawn of the Edwardian era begins in the early 1900s, Lady lived out her golden years in peaceful retirement after becoming a legendary canine hero before passing away peacefully at the country estate in the winter of 1907.
