Among the Sleep is a 2022 American epic science fiction thriller film written, co-produced, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It stars Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Jackson Robert Scott, Bradley Cooper, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carrie-Anne Moss, Danny Glover, and Ian McShane. In the film, 4-year-old David (Scott) opens a birthday present given to him by his father, Justin (Cooper), who is denied at the chance at seeing David by his mother, Zoey (Brewster). Within it is a stuffed bear simply named Teddy (voiced by Diesel), who helps Zoey protect David from evil spirits. Among the Sleep premiered in Los Angeles on January 28th, 2022, and was released on February 19th; it was a financial success, grossing $985 million worldwide on its $157 million budget, and received universal acclaim, with praise for Shyamalan's direction, screenplay, visual effects, its aesthetics, the performances, the emotional weight of the story, cinematography, James Newton Howard's score, and references to the source material, as well as its different approaches. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest films ever made, as well as one of the best game adaptions of all time. Diesel's performance was widely acclaimed, earning him an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, while Brewster was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.
