In the 1960s, during the whole African-American civil rights movement, free love, counter-culture and anti-war demonstrations era, William Shockley, renewed Nobel Prize for Physics laureate, inventor of the transistor and pioneer of the computer era shocked Americans by telling one of his unfounded theories: black Americans were inferior than white Americans, thus they needed to be "voluntarily sterilized".
