Description of S. Theodora Markson:

Snicket's incredibly incompetent chaperone. On the surface, she is brash, arrogant, and incredibly stubborn. Underneath, though, she is deeply loyal to her organization and to her apprentice, and she knows a lot more than she lets on. She is emotional, desperate for friendship, and has more hair on her head than she does skin on her body.
