Ptolemy, son of Lagus, was one of the member of the companions, so among the highest Macedonian nobility. I was probably slightly older than the other companions, in his 30s during the great asian expedition. He was also on of the somatophilakoi (bodyguards) of Alexander, so one of his closest friends. In 324, when the army returned to Babylon, he was appointed satrap of Egypt, and he became king of this land around the year 305 BC, establishing a dynasty ended in 30 BC with the suicidal of Cleopatra and the Roman conquest.
