She was the mother of Darius, and daughter of another Persian king, Artaxerxes the III. After the battle of Issus she was taken prisoner by Alexander. The Macedonian king treated her very kindly and with respect. First time she met the king, she prostrated to Hephaistion, Alexander said to her "you are not wrong, mother, he's Alexander too". Alexander called her mother, and she considered him as a son, hating his true son for abandoning cowardly his own family. She died shortly after Alexander and her two grand-daughters.
