Pausanias of Orestis was one of Philip's bodyguards, the one that killed the king. He was involved in a sexual scandal involving Attalus (father in law of the king) or even Philip himself, he asked the king for justice and he neglected it. Then, probably encouraged by Olympias (or less likely by the Greeks or the Persians), he killed his king during the wedding of Cleopatra. He died soon after while running away.
