Antipater was Philip's second in command general, Alexander so decided to left him behind to be regent in Macedon. But Olympias warned his son that he should have not trusted Antipater, that in her eyes, he took the opportunity to gain his own power in Greece. His son, Cassander, was sent to Babylon shortly before Alexander's death, so many believes that he was sent to kill Alexander. However he fought the first war of the diadochi, and was confirmed as regent of all the empire after the death of Perdiccas and Craterus. He died in 319 BC of old age.
