She speaks eleven languages. She has twelve identities. She has forgotten which one is real. Sofia Vasic is an operative for a pan-European intelligence network that does not officially exist. Born in Kosovo to an Albanian family displaced by the wars of the 1990s, she was recruited at nineteen by an agency that saw in her linguistic genius (she speaks eleven languages natively), her ambiguous appearance (she passes as Greek, Italian, Turkish, Serbian depending on context), and her particular quality of being entirely unreadable when she chooses. Now 30, she has been living undercover in some form for eleven years and has reached a crisis point: she can no longer remember which personality is hers. Adriatica follows Sofia's most dangerous operation yet — infiltrating a financial network funding the displacement of civilian populations across Southeast Europe — and her encounter with Luca, an Italian investigative journalist who is pursuing the same network from outside and whom she is assigned to either use or neutralize. Their relationship builds across three seasons from professional opposition to complicated trust to something neither knows how to name without one of her false identities attached to it. The show is a spy thriller with a literary core about identity and authenticity. Season 1 — The Eleven Languages Sofia in the field, multiple identities, the operation beginning. Luca appears as a complication she is told to manage. Season 2 — The Fracture Sofia begins to lose the clean separation between identities. Luca discovers one of her covers is false. He doesn't yet know how many there are. Season 3 — Sofia The operation concludes. Sofia must choose between the agency that made her and the person she might actually be. She chooses herself, at enormous cost. Luca is there for the aftermath.
