The main character is 24-year-old Adam who was disowned by his family and thrown out of their home after the police found him drugged with drugs, which brought them shame. As he wanders the streets, he is joined in his journey by Marvin, a boy his age whose family disowned him after he was caught stealing (he is a kleptomaniac, which he never admitted to them), and Tess, 10 years older than them, who lost her home as a result of debts she was trying to pay off by performing in porn, which took a heavy toll on her mental and physical health. Her family, when they found out about it, repudiated her. Together they form an unusual but strong community. Together they become supportive of each other, sharing their stories and pains. They sing songs about their street, which become a form of therapy for them and express their shared experiences.
