Hermia and her lover Lysander decide to leave Athens by night to escape the harsh laws there, which dictate that Hermia must obey her father by marrying Demetrius or be executed. They head into the forest, followed closely by Demetrius who is himself followed by Helena, who is in love with him. What happens to them there is so strange, magical and bizarre that it can only be described as something from... well, a dream.
