Jamal Richards, supporting, 24, African-American. He's a very kind and supportive friend of Tom, and, even during a fight with the delinquent gang, he takes a bullet for him. Fortunately, the shot wasn't fatal, Tom was able to retaliate, and Jamal recovers in a nearby hospital. While in the hospital, he hears about Tom's new relationship, and he congratulates him for "finally getting some good game". After his recovery, he remains supportive of and friends with Tom.
