Synopsis

A Bad Case of Stripes is an American family fantasy film based on David Shannon's popular children's book of the same name published in 1998. ​ The movie centers on Camilla Cream, a young girl who is very self-conscious. Her friends don't like lima beans, and she wants to fit in, so she won't eat them despite her love of them. She awakens to find herself covered in rainbow stripes on the first day of school. According to the thoughts and influences of those around her, Camilla's look continues to change in strange and unforeseen ways as the plot progresses. She changes into whatever the people around her advise or think she should be, and eventually she becomes a huge, multicolored beanstalk. Only until she eventually expresses her fondness for lima beans does the scenario turn around, reiterating the significance of individualism and self-acceptance.
