27 Ghosts
By Sep
27 GHOSTS Based on an extraordinary true story. In the shadows of World War II, Juan Pujol García, an ordinary Spaniard with no military intelligence experience, sets out on an improbable mission: to bring down Nazi Germany through deception. After being repeatedly rejected by British intelligence, Pujol infiltrates the German spy network and begins inventing agents who don’t exist, fabricating their identities, relationships, and intelligence reports from the safety of his small apartment in Lisbon. When British intelligence finally recognizes his extraordinary talent, Pujol joins forces with the brilliant but unconventional Tomás Harris, transforming his web of lies into one of the most elaborate deception operations in history. As his imaginary network expands to twenty-seven agents, the lines between truth and fiction begin to unravel, threatening his marriage, his sanity, and the lives of those who trust him. With the Allied invasion of Europe approaching, Pujol and his handlers must convince the Nazi high command to believe in an army that doesn’t exist—and make the greatest lie of the war its most consequential weapon. A story of extraordinary deception, impossible friendships, and the ordinary man who fooled an empire.
