Synopsis

An asteroid is set to hit earth in just 24 hours. In Oakland, California, the story begins and Alex is a 19-year-old college dropout who can barely pay his rent, nor afford food to eat. He has lost touch, and plans on spending the end of the world partying. While Alex is at a bar, he meets a freshmen studying at Berkeley, Emma. Emma is very different than Alex, and wanted to get a good job as a nurse, and help others. Her parents had commit suicide the week before, upon finding out the asteroid would hit earth. Emma and Alex get to know each other more, by going on a date at a beach, and later sharing a kiss. Emma and Alex begin to fall in love with each other, and decide to get married since the world is ending and they have nothing to loose. With 4 hours until the impact, the couple get stuck in a riot, and barely escape with their lives, before they are ambushed by a man in black, who comes after Alex, intending to kill him. Emma grabs a wrench nearby, and stabs the man in the head, killing him. Alex and Emma check in to a fancy hotel, using most of their remaining money. They end up having sex, after Emma reveals she is a virgin. They fall asleep, and wake up 30 minutes before the asteroid’s impact. At this point the rioting in the city gets worse, and the couple barely makes it inside the courthouse, which is abandoned besides one judge, who threatens suicide. After a while of convincing, the judge marries Alex and Emma, and they kiss just as the asteroid hits earth.
